Setting up your domain is the final step in launching your professional Appliance.io website. Your domain is your online identity — it helps customers find you, trust you, and remember your brand. Whether you already own a domain or you’re starting fresh, Appliance.io makes the connection process simple, secure, and stress-free.

📍 Accessing Domain Setup

To begin:
  1. Open the sidebar and click Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Website Settings section.
  3. Select Domain Setup from the onboarding steps.
Here, you can choose between:
  • Using your own custom domain (e.g., yourstore.com), or
  • Using a free Appliance.io subdomain (e.g., yourstore.applianceio.com)
If you choose an Appliance.io subdomain, simply enter the name and click Check Availability. If you’re connecting your own domain, continue with the steps below.

🌐 Step 1: Choose and Register Your Domain

If you don’t already have a domain, you can purchase one from popular registrars such as:
  • Namecheap
  • GoDaddy
  • Google Domains
  • Bluehost
  • HostGator

Tips for choosing a great domain name:

  • Keep it short, simple, and easy to spell
  • Use relevant keywords when possible
  • Avoid numbers or hyphens
  • Choose the right extension (e.g., .com, .shop, .tech)
Once purchased, you’re ready to connect it to Appliance.io.

🛠️ Step 2: Update Your DNS Settings

Log in to your domain provider’s DNS management panel (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Route53, Squarespace, etc.). Then add the correct DNS record based on whether you’re using your main domain or a subdomain.

A. Connecting Your Main Domain (example.com)

Add this A record:
NameTypeValueTTL
@A166.117.112.218Auto

B. Connecting a Subdomain (shop.example.com)

Add this CNAME record:
NameTypeValueTTL
shop.example.comCNAMEshop.appliance.ioAuto
⏱ DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours, depending on your provider.

🔍 Step 3: Verify Your Domain in Appliance.io

Once your DNS records are saved:
  1. Go to app.appliance.io
  2. Open Website Settings
  3. Head to My Website > Content > Domain Setup
  4. Click Verify
If verification fails, it usually means your DNS changes are still propagating. Try again later. After verification succeeds, click Publish to make your website live.

🔒 Step 4: SSL Certificate Activation (Automatic)

Appliance.io automatically provides a free SSL certificate for every connected domain. Once your domain is verified:
  • ✔ Your website loads over HTTPS
  • ✔ Visitors see the secure padlock icon
  • ✔ No manual installation required
SSL activates automatically after domain verification and publishing.

🧪 Step 5: Test Your Domain

Before announcing your website, confirm that everything is working:
  • Visit your domain — does the site load?
  • Ensure your A record points ONLY to 166.117.112.218
  • Check that the SSL padlock appears
  • Test any email services connected to your domain
  • Confirm DNS propagation with online tools:
Once all checks are complete, your domain is officially live!
