Build and manage customer home visits

The Home Visit feature in Appliance.io makes it easy to schedule and track Surveys, Service calls, and Installations directly from an order or quote. Whether you’re verifying measurements, sending a technician for repairs, or coordinating an appliance install, Home Visit keeps everything organized, efficient, and simple to manage.

📍 Accessing Home Visit

To begin, open the order page you want to update.

In the top-right corner of the order page, click the Select Action menu, then choose Add a Home Visit.

A pop-up will appear with three visit types:

• Survey

• Service

• Install

You can add Home Visits while the delivery status is Reserved, Open, Scheduled, In-Transit, or Delivered — giving you total flexibility.

Once added, each visit appears in the Order Summary with options to edit or delete using the pencil and trash can icons.

💡Tip: You can stack all three types — Survey, Service, and Install — in the same order if needed.

🧩 Survey Visit

A Survey is used when a customer needs a site check before installation, such as measuring available space or confirming fit for an appliance.

To create a Survey Visit:

• Select the Survey Form (you can choose multiple)

• A preview sketch appears based on your form selection

• Choose the Model Number

• Select the Delivery Method

• Pick a Date

• Add a short Description

Click Save to add the survey to the order.

A sketch preview appears in the summary — click it anytime to zoom in. Edits or deletions can be made using the icons next to the visit.

🛠️ Service Visit

A Service visit is used when a customer needs repair or maintenance on an appliance they’ve already received — typically one purchased through Appliance.io.

To create a Service Visit:

• Fill in a detailed Description explaining the issue or reason for the visit

• Choose the Delivery Method

• Select a Date

Click Save, and the visit will appear in the order summary for easy tracking. Edit or remove it at any time using the provided icons.

🔧 Install Visit

An Install visit is scheduled when a customer needs help setting up a new appliance — especially when installation was included in their purchase.

To create an Install Visit:

• Choose the Model Number

• Add a Description

• Select the Delivery Method

• Pick a Date

Hit Save to finalize.

As with the other visit types, installs appear in the order summary and can be modified or removed anytime.

📝 Requesting a Home Visit From a Quote

If your customer isn’t ready to place an order yet — but needs a Survey or Service first — you can create a Home Visit directly from a quote.

Here’s how:

1. Open the Quote page.

2. Click the Home Visit button.

You’ll see two options:

• Survey

• Service

⚠️ Important: Survey visits require at least one Line Item so the surveyor knows what appliance specs to reference. Service visits do not require a line item.

For a Survey Visit (example):

• Select the Survey Form

• Choose the Model Number

• Fill in the Delivery Method, Date, and Description

• Click Save

Your Survey appears in the quote summary. When the customer is ready to proceed, simply click Add Payment to convert the quote into an order.
