The Custom Items feature in Appliance.io lets you permanently add accessories, parts, and non-appliance products to your catalog so they can be quoted and sold just like regular inventory. Whether you’re selling range cords, install kits, counter items, or specialty retail products, this tool helps your team stay organized and sell consistently. Some stores even use it to track front-counter items or maintain a reference list of internal model numbers for quick checkout.
It’s designed to give you full flexibility — so your system matches how your business actually sells.
📍 Accessing Custom Item Setup
To begin, open the sidebar and click Settings. Under Basic Settings, select Product Catalog. Inside Product Catalog, you’ll work across two tabs:- Brands – Create custom brands
- Categories – Create custom categories and subcategories
🧩 Step 1: Add a Custom Brand
Start by creating a brand for your custom item. Go to the Brands tab and click + Add Custom Brand. A pop-up will appear:- Enter the Brand Name
- Click Save
🗂 Step 2: Create a Custom Category
Next, you’ll create a category to organize your item. Switch to the Categories tab and click + Add Custom Categories. In the pop-up:- Enter a Category Name
- Add a Subcategory
- You can create a brand-new subcategory if needed
📦 Step 3: Register the Custom Item
Now you’ll officially register the item in Inventory. Go to the Inventory page and click Register Model Number. Fill in the fields:- Enter the Model Number (Model Details will auto-fill automatically)
- Add the Model Name
- UPC Code is optional
- Choose the Custom Brand you created
- Select the Appliance Type
- Choose your custom Category and Subcategory
🛒 Step 4: Add the Item to a Quote
Open a quote and click + Line Item. Start typing the model number or name of your custom item. When it appears, click to select it. Because this is a custom item, you’ll enter the price manually. This gives you flexibility for accessories or specialty products that don’t follow standard pricing.🚚 Step 5: Add a Fulfillment Type
Before checkout, you must assign a fulfillment type. Click Add Fulfillment Type and choose Custom Install.- Enter an Install Name
- No install price is required
