The SEO Settings page in Appliance.io gives you all the tools you need to improve your website’s visibility on search engines. From meta titles and descriptions to crawler rules and URL management, this page helps ensure that customers can easily find your site online. With a few simple configurations, you can strengthen your ranking performance and make every page search-friendly.
📍 Accessing SEO Settings
To get started, go to the sidebar and click Settings. Then, scroll down and select SEO. This opens your Search Engine Optimization tools, where you can create, edit, and manage all your site’s metadata and search engine crawling rules.📊 Meta Data
By default, you’ll land on the Meta Data tab. If you’re just starting out and see an empty Meta Data table—no problem! You can easily add your first entry by clicking Add New Meta.🧑💻 Creating a New Meta
When you click Add New Meta, a pop-up window will appear with several fields to fill in. Each one plays an important role in how your page appears in search engine results:- Meta Title This is the title that appears on search engine results pages (SERPs). It acts as the headline for your page, so make it clear, concise, and relevant to your content.
- Meta Description A short summary that describes what your page is about. This text is also shown in search results—keep it informative and appealing to encourage clicks.
- Meta URL This specifies the page URL to which the metadata applies, ensuring accurate SEO tagging for each page. Use /yourURL as the format.
✅ Understanding the Meta Data Table
The Meta Data table lists all your SEO entries in one place, so you can easily track and manage them. It includes five main columns:- Meta Title
- Meta Description
- URL
- Action
🤖 Robots Meta Tag
The Robots Meta Tag tab helps you control how search engines crawl and index your website. Instead of focusing on how pages appear in search results, this section defines the rules search engines should follow when accessing your site. It includes two sections: Robots Configuration and Crawl Settings.⚙️ Robots Configuration
This section allows you to view and manage your robots.txt content. In simple terms, a robots.txt file tells search engines which parts of your website they’re allowed—or not allowed—to crawl. This helps prevent unnecessary pages from being indexed and keeps search engines focused on your most important content. In Appliance.io, faceted robots.txt rules are already generated for you, so no manual editing is required. This means your site is automatically optimized with best-practice crawling rules, saving you time and reducing the risk of configuration errors. Default robots.txt: User-agent: * Sitemap: https://yourwebsitehere/sitemap-index.xml Disallow: /my-account/quotes-and-orders Disallow: /cart Disallow: /cdn-cgi/ List of generated faceted robots.txt: Disallow: /*?filter= Disallow: /*?filters= Disallow: /*?sort[ Disallow: /*?sort%5B Disallow: /*?price_range= Disallow: /*?price_range[ Disallow: /*?price_range%5B Disallow: /*?ranges[ Disallow: /*?ranges%5B Disallow: /*?brand= Disallow: /*?by= Disallow: /*?available_only= Disallow: /*&sort= Disallow: /*&sort[ Disallow: /*&sort%5B Disallow: /*&price_range= Disallow: /*&price_range[ Disallow: /*&price_range%5B Disallow: /*&ranges[ Disallow: /*&ranges%5B Disallow: /*&brand= Disallow: /*&by= Disallow: /*&available_only=🔍 Crawl Settings
The Crawl Settings section includes a toggle labeled “Discourage search engines from indexing this site.”- When this toggle is enabled, search engines will be discouraged from indexing your website.
- When turned on, the Robots.txt content field will be disabled, ensuring that indexing is consistently restricted.
